CloudEx Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the "Slideshow Maker Pro" app and its free edition, the "Slideshow Maker" app (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy applies equally to both apps. The two are listed separately on Google Play and have the same features; where they differ, this Policy names the app concerned.
- Slideshow Maker Pro (com.snowlife01.slideshowmaker_pro) — a paid app bought once on Google Play
- Slideshow Maker (com.snowlife01.slideshowmaker_trial) — free to install, with a 2-day trial of every feature, then unlocked with a one-time in-app purchase
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to the practices described in this Policy.
1. Our Core Principle
Slideshow Maker Pro and Slideshow Maker turn the photos and videos on your device into slideshow movies (MP4 or GIF) with music, text, and transitions. Everything involved in making a slideshow runs entirely on your device: drawing each frame (OpenGL ES), encoding the video (H.264 video and AAC audio with Android's MediaCodec; GIFs with the app's own encoder), mixing the sound, analysing the beat of the music, and detecting where faces are in a photo. Your photos, videos, and slideshows are yours: we never upload or transmit your photos, videos, or voice-over recordings to our servers. There is no account and no sign-in. Specifically, we do not have access to any of the following:
- The photos and videos you choose, and the slideshows you make from them
- Your voice-over (narration) recordings
- Your drafts, including the text you add to your slideshows
The app sends your slideshows outside your device only when you share them yourself.
2. Photos, Videos, Microphone, and Your Work
- Photos and videos: The app accesses the photos and videos on your device so that you can choose the ones to use in a slideshow. On Android 14 and later, you can allow access to selected photos and videos only. Drafts do not copy your photos and videos; they keep only a reference (a content URI) to the originals on your device.
- Face position: The app uses Android's built-in face detector (android.media.FaceDetector) on your device only to decide which part of a photo to frame when it zooms or crops. It does not identify anyone, and it does not save or transmit faces.
- Microphone: The microphone is used only for voice-over (recording your narration). The app asks for permission the first time you tap "Record voice-over". Recordings are saved only in the folder of that draft in the app's own storage and are never transmitted.
- Where your work is kept: Drafts are saved automatically in the app's own storage on your device. Slideshows you export are saved to your device's gallery: MP4 videos to Movies/<folder>/ and GIFs to Pictures/<folder>/, where the folder is "Slideshow Maker Pro" for Slideshow Maker Pro and "Slideshow Maker" for Slideshow Maker. Files in the gallery can be seen by other apps that you have allowed to access your photos and videos, and they remain after you uninstall the app.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Network Communication (complete list)
Making and exporting a slideshow does not require an internet connection. The app communicates over the network only for the following:
- Online music library: The list of songs, streamed previews, and song downloads come from our distribution server (hosted on Cloudflare R2). The app sends only requests for the music files, which contain no personal data. As with any request to a web server, the server receives your device's IP address as part of the connection.
- Fonts: Google Fonts downloadable fonts are fetched through Google Play services (FontsContract) the first time you use a font. The app itself does not communicate with Google Fonts directly.
- Trial check (Slideshow Maker only, until you purchase): So that the free trial cannot be started over by reinstalling the app, Slideshow Maker sends our server (Cloudflare Workers) only a value created by adding a salt to your device's Android ID (SSAID) and hashing it with SHA-256, and the server checks it against the date the trial started. The original ID is never sent. Once the check has been completed, or once you have purchased the full version, nothing more is sent. If you are offline, the app uses the start date recorded on your device. Slideshow Maker Pro does not perform this check.
- Anonymous crash reports: Via Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes, we collect the stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version. This does not include personally identifiable information, your photos, videos, or recordings. The app does not include Google Analytics for Firebase.
- List of our other apps: To show our other apps, the app downloads their names, descriptions, and icons from our content server (static files hosted on Cloudflare Pages). The request contains no personal data. As with any request to a web server, the server receives your device's IP address as part of the connection. Tapping an app in the list opens its page on Google Play.
- This Privacy Policy: The app opens this page in an in-app web view.
- Google Play: Google Play Billing (the full version unlock in Slideshow Maker), In-App Review (rating the app), and In-App Updates (updating the app). Payment is completed on Google Play, and we receive only a purchase token. We never receive payment information such as credit card numbers. Slideshow Maker Pro itself is bought on Google Play in the same way.
3.2 Information Stored Only on Your Device
- Drafts: Stored in the app's own storage. Each draft holds its project file (the slides, text, music, and other settings), a thumbnail, and any voice-over recordings. Photos and videos are not copied, as described in Section 2.
- Exported slideshows: MP4 videos in Movies and GIFs in Pictures, in the folder named after the app, as described in Section 2.
- Working files: Temporary files used while exporting are kept in the app's cache and deleted when the export finishes. Mixed soundtracks are cached, and only the three most recent are kept.
- Downloaded songs: Songs you download from the online music library are stored in the app's own storage.
- Settings, purchase status, and trial start date: Stored in the app's settings file on your device.
- Android backup: If backup is turned on in your device settings, Android may include your drafts (including voice-over recordings), settings, and purchase status in the backup it saves to your own Google account. Downloaded songs are excluded. This is handled by Android; we have no access to it.
- When you uninstall: Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes the drafts, settings, and downloaded songs stored in the app's own storage. Slideshows exported to Movies and Pictures remain until you delete them.
3.3 Information We Explicitly Do Not Collect
- Your photos, videos, slideshows, or voice-over recordings
- Faces — face positions are used on your device only to frame photos and are never identified, saved, or transmitted
- Your name, email address, phone number, or contacts (the app has no account or sign-in)
- Your location
- Your device's advertising ID (the app does not request the advertising ID permission)
- The list of apps installed on your device, or the contents of your screen or of other apps
3.4 Permissions the App Requests and Their Purposes
Both apps use the following OS permissions only for the stated purposes (the purchase permission is used by Slideshow Maker only):
- Photos and videos (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO; READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED for "selected photos only" on Android 14 and later; READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 12 and earlier) — Lets you choose the photos and videos for your slideshow. Requested when you open the photo picker.
- Storage (WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, Android 9 and earlier only) — Saves your slideshows to Movies and Pictures. Not requested on Android 10 and later.
- Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) — Used only for voice-over. Requested the first time you tap "Record voice-over". Recordings are saved only in the draft's folder and are never transmitted.
- Foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE; FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PROCESSING on Android 15 and later; FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC on Android 10 to 14) — Used only after you tap "Export", so that the export continues even if you close the app. It stops when the export is finished.
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS, Android 13 and later) — Shows the progress of an export, with a cancel button, and lets you know when it has finished or failed. Asked once, before your first export.
- Wake lock (WAKE_LOCK) — Keeps the export running while the screen is off.
- Internet (INTERNET; ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE is added by a library the app uses) — Used only for the communication listed in Section 3.1. Making and exporting slideshows does not require an internet connection.
- Purchases (com.android.vending.BILLING, Slideshow Maker only) — Used for "Unlock full version".
The app does not use location, contacts, the camera, an accessibility service, the list of all installed apps (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES), or the advertising ID.
